Grants for Programs, Beautification Available to Neighborhoods

BernCo’s Neighborhood Outreach Grant Program is accepting applications from neighborhood associations throughout the county until Oct. 9 for projects to engage, educate and beautify local communities.

The Neighborhood Outreach Grant Program assists neighborhood groups in building community through participation and outreach to local residents. Possible projects for grant funding include crime prevention programs, neighborhood art competitions and community gardens.

In previous years, projects funded by the grant program included mural restoration in the Kirtland neighborhood, acequia maintenance in the Los Alamos neighborhood and a bike program in the Vecinos del Bosque neighborhood.

Set aside by the Bernalillo County Commission, $25,000 is available for grants to recognized neighborhood coalitions and associations in Bernalillo County, including the City of Albuquerque. Projects must provide a public benefit, be free and open to all neighborhood residents and implemented by community members to qualify for funding.
