09/23/2020

At Tuesday night’s administrative meeting, the Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners passed an ordinance creating a Sheriff’s Office Advisory and Review Board.

“It is the purpose of this board to improve public transparency and accountability with respect to the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office,” says County Commissioner James Collie. “This board shall serve in an advisory capacity to the Board of County Commissioners, the Sheriff’s Office, and the public.”

The board will be made up of nine members. Each commissioner will appoint one member from their district and four at-large members will be selected by the commission from the pool of all applicants. The terms of all members will be four years.
