Kaiser Family Foundation Issue Brief Highlights Medicaid Enrollment in MDC and Other New Mexico Jails

06/26/2019
3:49 PM

This Kaiser Family Foundation issue brief identifies key lessons learned from how four states (Missouri, Ohio, New Mexico, Rhode Island) are connecting people leaving the criminal justice system to Medicaid coverage and services, with a focus on medication-assisted treatment (MAT) and supports for people with Opiate Use Disorders(OUD).

Since 2014, the Bernalillo County Metropolitan Detention Center has collaborated with the State Medical Assistance Division to develop ways to identify Medicaid-eligible individuals booked into jail, assist them with enrolling in Medicaid and providing information to access Medicaid covered services upon release to community.
