New Report Shows Deep Impact of ABC Community School Partnership

11/09/2018

A new report about the ABC Community School Partnership shows the far-reaching impact of community schools on families and students in the Bernalillo County and Albuquerque area.

Community schools represent a place-based school improvement strategy in which schools partner with community agencies and local governments to provide an integrated focus on academics, health and social services, youth and community development and community engagement.

To put it more simply, the community school movement works to make schools the hub of their communities. They do that by providing services to students’ families such as legal and medical help while also helping students with homework and other school-related issues.

There are 25 schools in the ABC Community School Partnership.

The new report shows that in the first quarter of 2018, the schools have made 32,957 contacts with students and their families in four areas – Authentic Family and Community Engagement, Collaborative Leadership and Practices, Integrated Student Supports and Expanded Learning Time and Opportunities.
