County Clerk

Voters can update their registration information in the following ways:

  • Online, through the Secretary of State's Office
  • During normal times, voter registration may be done in person at the Bernalillo County Clerk’s Office (Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at One Civic Plaza NW, 6th Floor, Albuquerque, NM  87102). However, the Clerk's Office is currently closed to the public due to the coronavirus public health emergency. 
  • Through County Clerks' offices statewide.
  • Through a third-party registrant agent.
  • At a state Motor Vehicle Department office, Human Services Department office, public libraries, colleges, universities, and at organized voter registration drives.

You may also request an application for voter registration be sent to you by emailing clerk@bernco.gov, by calling (505) 468-1291 and selecting the Voter Registration option, or sending a letter to: Bernalillo County Clerk’s Office, One Civic Plaza NW, Room 6022, Albuquerque, NM 87102.

When to Update Your Voter Registration

The County Clerk’s Office must receive the voter registration update no later than 5 p.m. on the 28th day before an election. The deadline to update your registration for the 2020 General Election is Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2020. 

Same Day Registration (SDR)

It is now possible to update your voter registration during early voting periods in New Mexico. SDR schedule for the 2020 General Election
