Alameda Drain and Trail Design Phase Two Community Meeting and Open House Scheduled for Aug. 8

The Public Works Division of Bernalillo County and project consultants invite the community to a public meeting for the Alameda Drain and Trail Project, Design Phase 2.

The community meeting will take place on Thursday, Aug. 8 at the Rudolfo Anaya North Valley Library, 7704 Second Street NW, from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

Phase two of the drain and trail project will be for a multi-use trail and landscape along the Alameda Drain from Osuna Road to El Pueblo Road. The design for this stretch of the drain and trail will generally follow the recommendations of the Alameda Drain and Trail Master Plan, which was completed in October of 2016.

This project is the second phase of a multi-phase project to develop a multi-use trail and amenities along the Alameda Drain from Rio Grande Boulevard north to Cynthia Loop, just south of the North Diversion Channel, a length of approximately nine miles.

Phase one of the project, from Montano Road to Osuna Road, was recently completed and celebrated with a trail and public art dedication.

The Alameda Drain is a historic dirt trench that provides flood protection by collecting water during major rain storms and serves as an outpour to the river. The drain runs parallel to Second Street for most of its length. The trail runs parallel to the drain.
