District 3

Commissioner Adriann Barboa is a generational New Mexican who has spent much of her life involved in the Bernalillo County community.

Commissioner Barboa’s commitment to just and equitable policies and programs has continued across her lifetime. From starting a nationally recognized mentoring program for students of color, to passing legislation to support pregnant and parenting young people, from leading campaigns for women and families to access the full spectrum of reproductive health care, to mobilizing community voices for quality affordable health care for all, Commissioner Barboa is rooted and ready to serve District 3 and all Bernalillo County residents.

Commissioner Barboa’s experience working as a case manager for youth facing houselessness and for juvenile community corrections gives her the understanding of our systems of care and where those systems are successful in supporting young people to thrive, and she has also witnessed first-hand the barriers and breaks in care that cause harm.

Commissioner Barboa is a graduate of Albuquerque High School and went on to study at the University of New Mexico. She has been an executive director, a field director and currently serves as policy director for Forward Together, a policy and culture shift organization.

Commissioner Barboa is a new grandma and proud mother of two young adults, who she raised as a young, single parent in Southeast Albuquerque, the home in which her parents raised her.
