Commissioner Steven Michael Quezada Funds Mask Distribution

Bernalillo County District 2 Commissioner Steven Michael Quezada gave away free facemasks as part of the daily Meals on Wheels food distribution to seniors in South Valley.

This marks the second round of mask giveaways in the South Valley and Southwest Mesa district, which is funding the purchase of the masks.

“Part of my job as commissioner is trying to make sure that residents are safe during this coronavirus pandemic,” says District 2 Commissioner Steven Michael Quezada. “Many times our seniors are overlooked and I want to make sure there’s fair distribution of masks for all.”

“Nourishing bodies and spirits with balanced meals and friendship is our mission and adding these face masks to the meals provided to our clients in the South Valley will help us in our goal to check the well-being of those we serve,” says Shauna Frost, executive director of Meals on Wheels Albuquerque. “Our thanks to Commissioner Quezada for providing the face masks.”

Commissioner Quezada previously offered free masks to restaurant workers, giving out roughly 400 masks.

Commissioner Quezada adds that he feels he has a moral obligation to his constituents. “These are my friends, neighbors and the people that I care very deeply about. If this prevents one unneeded exposure or saves a single life, it’s worth every penny.”

Future distributions will depend upon funding and mask availability.
