Bernalillo County Treasurer’s Office Reminds Property Owners Taxes are Due May 11, 2020

Bernalillo County Treasurer, Nancy Bearce reminds property owners the due date for the second half of the tax bill is May 10, 2020, but because the due date falls on a weekend, the final due date will be Monday, May 11, 2020.

Treasurer Bearce says, “I understand the timing of taxes and the COVID 19 pandemic is causing hardships for those paying their own residential and business taxes. I do need to collect our  taxes and forward on the mill levies to our public entities such as UNM Hospital, Albuquerque Public Schools, CNM and others who continue to deliver their critical services to the public.  Since March, I have been and will continue to work with the Governor’s Office and her administration for possible legislative solutions during the upcoming special legislative session.”

Bernalillo County taxpayers have several options when making payments while under coronavirus (COVID-19) closures.  Also for Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and the different payment options, please visit www.bernco.gov/treasurer, call us at 505-468-7031 or email us at treasurers@bernco.gov. County treasury does accept partial payments to assist payers with managing their budgeting but there will be penalties and interest after the deadline.  Please contact the Treasurer’s Office by phone or email to learn and understand the details of partial payments.

“We accept payments online using your credit card or an electronic check;  at our downtown drop box at Fifth and Marquette Streets NW;  through the mail; or at one of three credit union partners,” says Treasurer Nancy Bearce. “My top priority is the safety and health of Bernalillo County taxpayers and county employees, while our office building is closed to the public under the mayor and governor’s COVID-19 emergency.”

Additionally, the three credit unions and their branches accepting property tax payments from now through May 11, 2020 are:

  • First Financial Credit Union
  • Rio Grande Credit Union
  • US Eagle Federal Credit Union

Payments can also be dropped off at the following drop box site at the Albuquerque/Bernalillo County Government Center at the corner of Fifth Street and Marquette Avenue NW or mailed to P.O. Box 627,  Albuquerque, New Mexico, 87103.
