Sworn Reserve Deputy
- Full Sworn Reserve Deputy
o Has completed the entire hiring process
o Has completed the Reserve Academy or Reserve Lateral Academy
o Has completed the Sworn Reserve FTO program
o Full law enforcement powers granted by the Sheriff
o Must complete a total of 480 hours (192 in the field)
o Has the capacity to work under the Direct and Express Direction of a Sworn Deputy.
o May work as a 2 person unit and under a “Special”.
o May take additional training to enhance capabilities.
o must maintain these minimum requirements:
HOURS: 8 MONTHLY-NOT FSD PATROL SPECIFIC
MEETING/TRAINING: 6 OF EACHANNUALLY
TRAINING: 20 HOURS ANNUALLY
Special Reserve Deputy:
- Level One
o Sworn Reserve Deputy Trainee/ Cadet
Currently in the reserve academy , Reserve lateral Academy, or FTO process
o Must complete FTO training within 6 months of graduation from the Reserve Academy
o After successfully completing the 6 month requirement, a Level 1 must complete 120 hours prior to Sworn Reserve level promotion
o During this time a Level 1 may only work under the Direct Supervision of a Sworn Deputy or Sworn Reserve
- Level Two
Holds a current Law Enforcement Certification from a State, Local, of Federal agency
Has not yet completed the Reserve Lateral Academy
Has not yet completed the FTO process
- Level Three
o Special Reserve Deputy
Volunteer and civilians
Has successfully completed a background and application process
Must complete 8 hours of duty each quarter
Is not certified to wear a department badge, uniform, or firearm.
No Law Enforcement powers
Are exempt from the Sworn Reserve Deputy requirements.
Will be used for administrative functions only.
