Bernalillo County’s Water Conservation Development Standards and Guidelines provide guidance to homeowners, builders, and developers on how to meet the requirements in the County’s Water Conservation Ordinance. They address: 1) Single-Family Residential; 2) Multi-Family Residential, Commercial, Office, Institutional, Industrial, and Small Subdivisions; and 3) Master Planned Communities, Large Subdivisions, Campuses, and Land Planning.

For each type of development, the standards and guidelines provide recommended steps for water-conserving landscape design, key concepts for water-conserving landscape design, water-conserving devices and best-management practices, and guidance on soil amendments and water-conserving irrigation.

Water Conservation Ordinance requirements and forms for building permits are also provided below.
