BernCo Announces New Convenient MDC Commissary Deposit Services

07/01/2020

Bernalillo County Commissioners recently approved a new agreement with the Keefe Commissary Group for the commissary and deposit services for the Metropolitan Detention Center.

Family and friends now have a new, more convenient way to make deposits into inmate’s accounts by going to walk-in retailers where they already shop.

They can register at www.cashpaytoday.com, get a barcode and make a cash deposit at locations including Dollar General, Family Dollar, CVS, and 7-Eleven stores.

There are still other ways to make deposits and payments to inmate’s accounts:

· Online deposits can be made at www.AccessCorrections.com

· Download the free Access Corrections App (download from the App Store or Google Pay)

· Phone: 866-345-1884. Live bilingual agents are available 24/7.

Keefe Commissary offers inmates various food and drinks, clothing, toiletries, and other miscellaneous items through orders from the kiosks or tablets. Monies deposited for inmates’ commissary purchases goes into the Inmate’s Personal Trust Account, which is then used to pay Keefe for the contracted sales and services.

Keefe reduced all commissary items costs to be less than the items that are offered in other New Mexico Counties by Keefe.

“MDC is very pleased with the lower web deposit fee structure and the new walk-in retailer options to add money to the inmates’ accounts,” says MDC Chief Greg Richardson. “Not only will it be more convenient, but it will save money for the inmates’ friends and families.”

The term of this agreement is thirteen months (from June 1, 2020 to June 30, 2021) with options to extend for six additional one-year periods.
