The mission of the Bernalillo County Treasurer’s Office is to provide exceptional collection services to the taxpayers in terms of efficiency, timeliness and accountability while providing the highest level of customer service and satisfaction.

ACCOUNTING

  • Accepts property tax payments from constituents in various forms such as Automated Clearing House (ACH), monthly, online, and drop off locations
  • Payment plan option to help the public needs such as seniors, fixed income, delinquent and partial payment accounts

ADMINISTRATION

  • Provide customer service by answering taxpayer inquiries in a timely manner via online or by telephone
  • Safe-keeping of public money and investments
  • Meet all state laws and county charter for the Treasurer's Office
  • Provide operational standards and policies

DELINQUENCY

  • Proactive tax collections on overdue property taxes, to assist taxpayers and provide revenues of any late charges to remain with the county
  • Properly protect and secure tax collections on manufactured homes, personal property and bankruptcy

SPECIAL ACCOUNTS

  • Work with Assessor on protested properties to refund property taxes
  • Manage tax researchers
  • Identify tax adjustments
  • Examine annual tax bill (e-billing)

The Matrix is used during the Build Foundation and Developing Framework phases of the performance reporting process. While developing the Matrix the mission, services, projects, and performance measures are reviewed, updated, and/or established for the upcoming cycle. The Meeting Agenda and Industry Research are used during the Analyze & Review phase of the performance reporting process. The Meeting Agenda tracks questions and follow up items addressed during the DCM Performance Meetings, while the Industry Research is reviewed for industry trends and benchmarking opportunities.
