Action Steps

  1. Submit new General Obligation Bond on ballot in Nov 2016 for 1.5M for building
  2. Architectural plans have been developed and approved
  3. Project will be posted for bid after the sale of the bonds
  4. Estimation of staffing /operating costs
  5. Expected groundbreaking for March 2017 and completion of March 2018
  6. Department will oversee the construction of a new animal sheltering facility to serve the citizens and animals of Bernalillo County

Why is this measure important?

This will be the first full service animal shelter for the county. It will allow us to provide services to the community that we cannot currently provide and will also eliminate dependence on the City of Albuquerque.
