Accounting & Budget Department Ackowledged for Outstanding Work

At its May 22 administrative meeting, the Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners acknowledged the Accounting and Budget Department for receiving a prestigious award that recognizes the department’s excellence in financial reporting for fiscal year 2017. The award, presented by the Government Finance Officers Association, highlights the county’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).

The certificate program was established in 1945 to encourage local governments to perform above and beyond the minimum standards of financial accounting, and develop stronger accounting practices. In order to receive this award, Bernalillo County had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for governmental accounting.

The Government Finance Officers Association judges the financial report on the transparency and comprehensive nature of the report, along with reader appeal, understandability, ease of access, as well as overall usefulness to members of the public.

This is the 14th consecutive year, and the 17th year overall, that the Government Finance Officers Association has awarded Bernalillo County for its outstanding work in creating the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
