County Commission Appoints Census Committee Members

04/10/2019

Bernalillo County and the City of Albuquerque have joined together in an effort to get a more complete count for the 2020 census.

As part of that consolidation a census committee is being formed with members approved by both government agencies to develop more efficient and accurate ways to count every person in Bernalillo County, including difficult to count populations such as the homeless or temporary residents in outlying areas.

The Bernalillo County Commission approved these two appointments from every County Commission district to the 2020 census committee:

District 1

Paul Chavez – North Valley resident
Nichelle Gilbert – Partnership for Community Action

District 2

Bianca Encinias – South Valley Main Street
Rosalinda Dorado – El Centro de la Raza

District 3

Enrique Cardiel – Bernalillo County Community Health Council
Darcy Bushnell – Attorney

District 4

Danette Townsend – ABC Community Schools
Marisol Lucero – Albuquerque Economic Development

District 5

Jessica Velasquez – Business Owner
Sue Margison – Northeast Heights resident

The list of candidates was developed in an effort to include critical local organizations and reflect the diversity of the community.
