Bosque Chile Festival Set for Aug. 18

07/09/2018

Registration for artisans, food trucks, cooks for the “chicharron challenge” and volunteers is now open for the 2018 version of the Bosque Chile Festival.

The third annual Bosque Chile Festival is a unique celebration of food, art and culture in New Mexico’s Middle Rio Grande Valley.

New this year is the “chicharron challenge” that will feature restaurant cooks and chefs frying up their own versions of this tasty piggy treat, sponsored by Disc-it.

Winners of the competition will each take home a custom-made Disc-it grill, plate, or utensils and the ‘chicharron chops’ rights as the Bosque’s best of 2018. A panel of judges and people who attend the event will cast their votes for the winners. Entry fee for the “chicharron challenge” is $25.

The Bosque Chile Festival will take place at the National Hispanic Cultural Center, 1701 4th Street SW, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Aug. 18. Admission is only $5 and kids five years and under are free.

Food vendor and artisan fees range from $100 - $200 for early-bird rates, which increase after July 27. This is a juried process for vendors, meaning each vendor must submit a pictured portfolio with their application.

To sign up for the friendly competitions, become a vendor and/or learn more about the event, please visit www.bernco.gov/bosquechilefestival.

This event is presented by Bernalillo County and the National Hispanic Cultural Center.
