Community Services

The Cultivating Bernalillo County Grow the Growers program is a comprehensive farm training and business acceleration initiative designed to attract new and emerging farmers into professional food production. Bernalillo County and its program partners are committed to strengthening the local food economy by nurturing the next generation of food entrepreneurs by providing the following support:

 

Internship Phase

  • One year of practical in-field/on-farm experience
  • Educational workshops
  • Paid stipends for full-time interns

 

Business Incubation Phase

  • Up to four years of continued access to affordable land and water on County Open Space
  • Ongoing mentoring for small business development
  • Continuing education opportunities

 

Independent Business Phase

  • Long term access to land and water through agricultural conservation easements

  • Please join us for this free event as we combine writing prompts with walks surrounding Bachechi Open Space to strengthen our poetic voices through detailed observation of the natural world. Participants are asked to bring a notebook, pen or pencil, and a favorite nature poem to class. Register at the link below.

  • Youth ages 11-19 are invited to participate in our free Teen 3-on-3 basketball program every Friday night from 7-10 June 14 through Aug. 9.
