Violent Suspects Apprehended for Felony Charges

On October 3, 2017 at about 10:00 am, deputies responded to the area of Old Coors Drive and Bridge Blvd, in reference to an abandoned silver Volkswagen with no registration plate. Deputies observed a male, later identified as 45-year-old Ryan Salazar standing outside the vehicle. Ryan was attempting to jump start the Volkswagen with jumper cables attached to a white Jeep. While attempting to make contact, Ryan jumped into the Volkswagen and fled at a high rate of speed, dragging the deputy outside of the vehicle for a short distance. The deputy was uninjured and the Volkswagen was not located. Through the investigation, Ryan Salazar was found to have multiple felony warrants for his arrest and the Jeep he left behind was reported stolen.

On October 4, 2017 at about 8:00 am, Ryan was seen in a white Nisan with a female driver at a local gas station in the area of Coors Blvd and Arenal Road. Deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver attempted to flee ramming three sheriff’s units. The vehicle was stopped and the driver, 32-year-old Kathleen Baca and Ryan were taken into custody.

One deputy was transported to a local hospital due to minor injuries. Ryan was arrested for aggravated Battery on a Peace Officer, Aggravated Fleeing, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Kathleen was arrested for Aggravated Battery on a Peace Officer (3 counts), Aggravated Assault on a Peace Officer (6 counts), Aggravated Fleeing, Criminal Damage to Property, Conspiracy and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

“Deputies removed two violent offenders from the community. I am thankful no major injuries were sustained and the community is safer after the swift actions of our deputies.”
