Special Victim’s Unit Arrest

On August 28, 2017, the Albuquerque Police Department responded to the 8000 block of Spain Road, in reference to a 12-year-old female who had disclosed sexual abuse. The juvenile disclosed her step-father 47-year-old James Beverly, had sexually abused her between March 2017 and August 2017. APD took the initial report and found that the alleged criminal acts took place at the residence of her mother and James Beverly. The residence is in the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office jurisdiction and the case was subsequently referred to our Special Victim’s Unit. The juvenile was interviewed and made disclosures to forensic interviewers. James was arrested for Criminal Sexual Contact of a Minor at his Family Practice office in Cedar Crest, New Mexico.

According to detectives, James has a prior arrest in 2001 out of Colorado for Enticement of a Child. James is an active physician’s assistant and has contact with minors due to his place of employment.
