BernCo Commission Rescinds Open Burning Ban

With the arrival of the monsoon season the fire danger in the unincorporated areas of Bernalillo has decreased to an acceptable level. The Bernalillo County Commission has voted to rescind the open burning restrictions that were imposed on April 11, 2018, for all unincorporated areas of Bernalillo County outside the city limits of Albuquerque.

“Safety is the primary concern when conducting any open or recreational burning. Bernalillo County open burning regulations must be followed to protect life and property” says Bernalillo County Fire Marshal Keith Clark.

The county burn line number (505) 468-7200 and it will be updated to reflect this change.

The public is urged to use fire cautiously and safely. The burning of dried vegetation is now allowed in piles no larger than three feet by two feet. The burn hours will be from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. The burning of any other material is prohibited.
